Hello! My name is Dorothea, but my very young students fondly call me Teacher Dory.
I was born and raised in Venice, but I’ve been living in London for nearly 15 years, where I graduated with a degree in English Literature and French from the University of Westminster and earned a Master’s degree in Digital Marketing.
My journey into teaching began by chance when the pandemic hit and I had to reinvent myself after years in digital marketing and acting. In 2021, I obtained my Level 5 TEFL certificate and since then, I have been helping students of all ages and abilities to learn English and Italian.
Most recently, I completed the prestigious CELTA qualification from Cambridge that further enhanced my teaching skills.
I love teaching, but what I find most rewarding about it are the moments when young students have fun while learning, when they eagerly look forward to my classes each week, and share their creative ideas with me. It’s also incredibly fulfilling to see all my students, both young and older, gain confidence in speaking English.
Fun facts
When I’m not at my desk, I enjoy gardening and caring for my plants, cycling around London for artistic inspiration, and taking care of people’s cats. I also love traveling to explore different cultures and perspectives, and try new cuisines. Recently, I’ve traveled to Japan, Bulgaria, Italy, Greece and Hungary. This year, I hope to explore Taiwan.
